March Shopping Dates at Our Kids' Closet

So will March come in like a lion this year?  I'm hoping not, even though we haven't had much snow this year I am ready for a warm spring day.

March will be the last month for winter clothing shopping before we switch our stock over to summer clothing. Meanwhile, when you're cleaning out your closets and switching over to summer clothing, please think of us and drop off some clothes for Our Kids' Closet: newborn through size 14/16.  Our 24 hour donation bin is located at St. Boniface Church  or drop off on any of our open shopping days at Columbia St. Mary's Clinic - both in Germantown, WI.

As always if you are low income, and your kids need clothing (newborn through 14/16), stop in and do some shopping. We've got open shopping dates every month just for you. We look forward to seeing you!
We are open for shopping on the 1st Thursday (6-8pm) and 1st Saturday (9-11am) every month. In March that is on the following days:
  • Thursday, March 1st 6-8pm
  • Saturday, March 3rd 9-11am

A Merry Christmas to all

It’s been a wonderful time of the year. The generosity of our community constantly amazes us. It is modern-day version of the bible’s story of the Loaves and Fishes: our gifts miraculously multiply to take care of many.

In the last month we have received so many generous donations.  Here’s just a few…
The girls of Brownie Troop 4475 of Allenton collected and donated 35 winter jackets, plus hats, mittens, and boots.  Just in time for the coldest part of winter!  Our kids are going to be dressed nice and warm thanks to their efforts.

Germantown’s Girl Scout Troop 2756 held a pajama party at County Line Elementary School with various fun stations for nail & face painting, colored hairspray, and a whipped cream challenge contest. Admission to this fun event: donate an article of clothing. They had about 40 scouts attend, and collected a bunch of clothes that our families can really use.
The wonderful ladies of The Bookies Book Club also took up a collection and donated alot of nice new clothing, pictured here, from shirts to pajamas, to the always-needed underwear.

And then there are all the folks that donate by dropping clothing off at our Donation Bin at St. Boniface Church.  The bin has been filled to over-flowing several times in the last few weeks with great stuff... like the secret “santa” that left an entire bag of brand-new socks and tights!! Click here for a map to St. Boniface.
And as always, our wonderful volunteers keep coming, and helping us keep Our Kids’ Closet running like a well-oiled machine.

We are truly blessed to live in a place with such generosity and caring for those around us. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone!!  Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas!

Richfield Lioness Did Some Power-Shopping!

Our Kids' Closet would like to extend a thank-you to the Richfield Lioness organization for their generous donation of new items for our families. With $550.00 in their wallets they went out and purchased new socks, underwear, and pajama's for our families.  We certainly will put all of them to good use this next month during our November shopping days where I know that the families you are helping will appreciate your generosity too!

Thank-You Lumen Christi

Our Kids' Closet would like to express our gratitude to K5-8th grade Lumen Christi Girl Scouts and their families for their generous donation of like-new and new clothing items. The Girl Scouts planned and held a successful Pajama Party at school and collected many bags filled with beautiful items for our families.  As an added bonus I had the pleasure to meet and work with Troop 1390 when they dropped off the bags.  So once again, thank you girls for keeping us in mind while you shared of your time and talent for children in the community.

The Germantown Police Department & Leadership Germantown held their Neighbors Against Crime night – a free family event to help the community learn about keeping their neighborhoods safe. It was also a benefit for the Germantown Food Pantry, and Our Kids Closet. Over 500 people attended, and donated items for both organizations. Thanks to the organizers at the Police Department for their efforts, and to all of those who generously donated. Thank-You St. Boniface

Our Kids’ Closet would like to extend a special thank-you to the St. Boniface School community for their generous donation of clothing to our facility. This much needed clothing will be put to good use and make an immediate difference to children within our community. Your donation is made even more special because it was organized by kids, for kids. What a great way to spread the gifts of your time and talents!
